I've been in Vegas for a few days now staying with my always very hospitable stepbrother and his wife.

The first day I arrived, I

Not only was in time for the World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions event
Not only was able to find it despite no easy find of exact location in Caesar's on the internet
Not only was able to find it wandering like a lost puppy in Ceasar's despite most staff having never heard of the event being there
Not only made it through the line to get into the audience,
but I was able to watch the whole thing live from about 4 p.m. to the finish at 1 a.m. or so.

It was a great event and truly a cool experience to witness the event first hand and watch highly competitive players Hoyt Corkins, Phil Hellmuth, Steve Danneman, Mike Matusow, Dan (somebody) from England a few others battle it out for 1 million. There was great banter between Mike and Phil and a number of interesting hands. It will absolutely make for excellent television.

I've had a bit of a frustrating time with tournaments for the most part playing quite well (probably at times a little too aggressive, especially given the surprisingly high level of idiocy of many of my opponents) and not doing very well. I have cashed in two tournaments of some 18 I've played, but unfortunately they were not the high buy in ones.

I've been cleaning up in cash games. The games in Vegas are much weaker than back home and I regularly beat the ones at home...

It's been a fun trip at times between being annoyed with poker and sort of wandering alone. Spent some time with my stepbro yesterday wandering around Bally's to Paris to Bellagio, and through Ceasar's all the way to Mirage. Then back to Imperial Palace to hit a quieter, more low key bar where I tried to get money back lost in poker machines only to lose more... At least this time I was ready to quit ahead for myself, but wanted to get revenge for my stepbro's earlier losses... Small consolation.

I'm looking forward to more WSOP circuit events (Bally's/Paris is having them now--just walked into them...), running into more pros from whom to get autographs, the sharks at Mandalay Bay, the art gallery at Bellagio, the crazy ride on top of the Stratosphere, and maybe a topless revue.

I have a nice card deck with signatures from most famous pros that I've run into. I missed a chance to grab one from Gus and was too shy to get Eli Elezra (who looked like he wanted to kill me when I was just following him through Bellagio to get to the cashier's so I could ask about satellites into their tournament) or Scott Fischman's autographs (I couldn't tell it was he and he didn't seem keen on being recognized and/or possibly interacting with some strange person sort of staring at him as he walked the other direction. You don't just drop into the big game in Bobby's Room at the Bellagio to get autographs. You have to be sneaky and corner the pros when they are away from the table.

I've seen a number of the regulars as well as Hellmuth at the big game and Laybe Flack.

Anyway, could use a little luck for these last few tournaments. I'll play the best that I can and hope that it works out.

I'm in Vegas for a bit playing in the available live tournaments. Wish me luck! If you're in the area, feel free to call me at 510-847-0374 to meet up for food or entertainment.

When my computer broke about 6 weeks ago, I started playing a lot of live tournaments and ring games (cash games, chips on table represent actual money). I finished 4th in one of them and got a cool 1690, 1500 after toking the staff for the event.

I'm hoping I'll be continuing with further succeses.
